Logistics for Faculty, PhDs, and Postdocs

These instructions are for faculty, students and postdocs traveling to Google for the NLP NLU Workshop.


Event location

The Workshop will take place at Google's New York Chelsea Office. 75 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011 (between 15th & 16th Street)

Travel

You should have completed the RSVP form. If you require us to arrange and fund your travel, you will have to let us know in the RSVP form. We'll follow up via email with instructions.

Ground transportation

Please arrange your own transport to your airport/station of departure and when in New York. Please see the ground transportation help section for the airport in which you're landing for help:

Hotel (for external guests only)

If you've requested a hotel, we've made the arrangements on your behalf and will confirm over email. Our event hotel is the Wyndham New Yorker, which is a ~20 minute walk to the Google New York Chelsea office or a short 10 minute train ride.

  • Check-in time: 3:00 PM
  • Check-out time: 12:00 PM

Special requests for early arrivals or late departures cannot be guaranteed.

Insurance

Important: participants traveling to the workshop are not covered by Google's corporate travel insurance, nor can we guarantee you'll be covered under any government health care schemes. We advise you to take out your own policy for medical coverage and repatriation before you travel.

Expenses (for external guests only)

If requested, Google will cover the costs of air travel and hotel accommodation at our contracted hotel (max 3 nights). All meals during the workshop will be paid for by Google. Please note, we won't cover non-essential expenses, such as mini bar, phone calls, bar bills, etc! If in doubt, please email ur-events@google.com.

Visas

If you require a visa to enter the United States, please email ur-events@google.com and we can help obtain a letter of support for you.

Dress code

The dress code for the event is loosely defined as 'casual'. Please simply wear what you are comfortable in!

Visitor Policy

We kindly ask that you do not take any photos or videos inside the Google office. Please don’t share or discuss any confidential information you see or hear during your visit.

Smoking

Please note that Google is a strictly non-smoking office.

Laptops & Internet access

Wireless broadband is available for guests at the Google office. Feel free to bring your laptops to the office to check emails during breaks. You won't require them during sessions, however.

Badges

For security reasons, please wear these at all times while onsite at the Google office. Please ensure you do not walk around the building without an official Google host.
