The 1st School of Advanced Studies is a summer school with duration of 10 days whose goal is to introduce and discuss, to the Brazilian Mathematical community and, specially, to those studying and working in the Northeastern region of Brazil, recent themes of research in Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory. We plan to gather around 30 students, postdoctorals and professors, and we expect to cover all local expenses of the participants.
The school will occur at Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) between 3 and 12 of January, 2024.
There will be the following minicourses, each consisting of four 2h lectures (total of 8h each):
Divisible convex sets and Anosov flows in low regularity, lectured by Carlos Matheus (CNRS / École Polytechnique, France).
Introduction to partially hyperbolic dynamics, lectured by Rafael Potrie (Universidad de la República, Uruguay).
Complimentary to the minicourses, there will also be a (limited) number of talks.
This school is part of the project Jangada Dinâmica, funded by Instituto Serrapilheira. See more about the project here.
Diversity in Mathematics:
The project supports the creation of a diverse environment in Mathematics, devoting 30% of participation and funding to underrepresented groups in Mathematics (regarding gender, race, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic status, and regionality). We highly encourage the registration from member of these groups.
