On behalf of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers and the Organising Committee it is my pleasure to invite you to the 1^st NZ-Japan Joint Symposium on Structural and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering that will be held on November 27^th , 2018 at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.

This inaugural symposium aims to bring together leading academics, researchers and practitioner engineers from across New Zealand and Japan to share their experiences and research results on key aspects of Structural and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering resulting from lessons learned from recent major earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan.

We look forward to seeing you all in Christchurch in November 2018.
