The current sultan, Sultan Adam Alwasi Billah has passed away. As insisted by the Dutch, Prince Tamjidillah was appointed as the new Sultan.
Sultan Tamjidillah was unpopular with the people and he, according to tradition, was not next in line for the position. Banjarmasin's political scene soon crumbled into a sea of chaos.
The people who resented Saultan Tamjidillah begun to take their frustrated, unheard voices to the streets. Chaos, madness and confusion shook their society to the very foundation shortly after.

After the appointment of Prince Tamjidiillah as the new Sultan, there were three attempts made to assassinate the Sultan; but all were in vain as he was well-protected by his bodyguards.
