When Truth Changes Your Life
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I learned to see the world through the lens of my surroundings, my family, and the culture that shaped me. Like everyone else, I developed assumptions about life, relationships, success, and what it meant to be a man. I didn't question many of those assumptions. They were simply part of how I understood the world.
But when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ at nineteen, everything changed. Jesus confronted what I believed about myself, others, and the world. What I once accepted as normal could no longer remain unchallenged. Following him meant leaving behind old ways of thinking and living. It meant becoming someone new.
Jesus challenged my assumptions about strength, relationships, success, and even family. His words confronted attitudes I had accepted as normal. He called me to see myself and others differently.
I discovered that following Jesus isn't simply about acquiring new information or adopting religious practices. It is about surrendering to him as Lord. His Word reshapes how we think, what we value, and how we live.
And that process is ongoing.
The more I grow in my relationship with Christ, the more I appreciate that spiritual maturity requires both conviction and humility. The conviction to stand upon what is true. The humility to recognize where my thinking still needs to change.
Truth does more than inform us. Jesus calls us to become new people.
Why 180Truth Exists
A change of mind. A change of direction.
180Truth grows out of a simple conviction: what we believe shapes how we live.
We all interpret the world through assumptions, experiences, traditions, and influences. Some of those perspectives serve us well. Others prevent us from seeing ourselves, our neighbors, and God clearly.
But Jesus Christ does more than offer us another perspective. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is risen. He is Lord.
To follow Jesus is to surrender our lives to him. He calls us to the renewal of our minds, the transformation of our hearts, and a new way of living.
180Truth is a place to explore what that means.
Through biblical teaching, books, and conversations, we examine what we believe. We explore Scripture and engage the questions that shape our lives. Our aim is not simply to know more, but to become more like Christ.
See Differently. Live Faithfully.
