The science of Epigenetics involves the study of changes in genome organization and gene expression by chemical modifications of the DNA and the DNA-associated proteins (histones and non-histones) and RNA which affects the physiological and pathological outcomes. Understanding the genome-wide epigenetic phenomena is highly relevant and important not only to understanding the fundamentals of gene regulation but also to its application in disease biology, drug designing, and agricultural sciences.
The past two decades have seen an upsurge in Epigenetic research. Technological advancements like massively parallel sequencing, high-resolution quantitative mass spectrometry, and cryo-electron microscopy have allowed us to address the relevant questions related to the altered epigenetic landscape in different diseases. A sincere effort from scientists in China, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan has led to the organization of a forum for discussing the advancements in the area of Epigenomics and also to strengthen collaborations, exchange scientific ideas, and develop human resources. Several experts outside of Asia have also immensely contributed to this effort to develop epigenetic resources in this part of the globe.
We are delighted and honored to organize this meeting in the “Science City of India, Bengaluru’ this year. We hope that this effort will be highly beneficial to the participants and further advance Asia’s contribution to this field. We welcome you all to this exciting conference.
