Thespians are members of the department who are a part of the International Theatre Honor Society. You can apply to be a Thespian at the end of each year if you meet all the requirements and submit a completed application. This includes meeting the 10 Thespian point minimum and payment of $100 (frequently made through sponsorships). Once you become a Thespian you are adopted into a family of mentors. Becoming a Thespian is a true step in being in the 1139 family. You can always contact an officer if you have any questions or concerns.
Grade point average of 2.5 or higher
Participation in at least two Boone Shows
Must participate in District competition
Students may not have any disciplinary actions
Students must have 10 thespian points - you should get this through 2 shows
Students must display good character and attitude during the school year.
Students must be registered for a Theatre Class to be inducted and/or remain a member.
To become and maintain a thespian status, you must record points that represent your activity in the department. The minimum for admission as a thespian is 10, but as you continue in the department you must keep track. Speak to the Thespian Captain(s) about tracking acquired points.
A $100 sponsorship is a requirement for all 1139 thespians. This connection can simply be made by going up to businesses and asking them to sponsor you. We have a sponsorship form that makes it easy for everyone. After you raise your $100, everything after that is a 50/50 split with the department and you, in terms of money for your theatre dues. We highly recommend gaining a sponsor, unfortunately the dues add up and sponsors provide financial relief! If you are in need of past sponsors or have any questions, contact your officers or reserve members for any assistance.
