My journey throughout the embedded systems module is certainly one that I will value, due to the things I was able to learn and experience I was able to have as I learnt and underwent personal and academic growth. This was as I was able to go through assignments that challenged me not only theoretically but also creatively as I began and tried to slowly but surely build up a good foundation in the subject that I am sure will undoubtedly help me in the future when I enter the workforce. This final and overall reflection will dive into details surrounding my experience in this module and will share my personal insights on the module.
The embedded systems module lasted a total of 7 weeks, with the last few weeks being dedicated to consultations with our lecturer, Mr Yusri. At a glance, 7 weeks may seem a bit of a short time to learn the subject but would be considered relatively manageable or so I thought. However, other than the subject content itself, the time limit along with trying to balance my workload between 3 other subjects was probably the hardest challenge I faced in this module. Due to this, I had to endure staying up late to the extent of not sleeping more than once. Besides that, as mentioned above, the content learnt was quite challenging for me as it's not only my first time learning design based materials but also tech based ones. Despite that however, I believe I tried the best I could so far in producing satisfactory work to the best of my abilities and though I know my work has a long way to go until it can be called stellar, I will learn more and try my utmost hardest in this degree program to make sure I reach and go beyond the standard.
The module experience, though felt pressuring, served as a learning curve for me as I got to learn a plethora of new things. Ideating and formulating ideas for my product has to be one of the moments I enjoyed the most as it allowed me to further explore my creative side and delving into what features I could add to ensure my product met users needs and to make people enjoy using it. This was something I thoroughly loved doing, implementing my ideas to help improve and aid challenges faced by individuals truly made me feel satisfied and cemented the feeling of wanting to further improve my performance in order to help others, not only through my academics and degree but also when I enter the work industry later on in life. I believe the content learned in this module will be proven extremely valuable in my professional career in the near future.Â
Overall, I was able to take away not only the academic aspects of this module but also enhancing my personal development and feelings of what I want to do and how I want to help the community in the future. I believe this was further amplified by the personal anecdotes Mr Yusri told in class, his own personal experiences in the industry where he was able to help individuals and communities improve their quality of life. Those stories were really able to inspire me and were able to show me that I wanted to do something similar in the future; that I too, wanted to help the community. This feeling I had was increased through learning and undergoing this module, which was something that I wasn't able to experience in any other subject, both on foundation and degree levels. Thus, for that, I am truly grateful to be able to experience and learn from the embedded systems module.
