Communication:
I believe communication between school and home is necessary for your child's success. Email is the most efficient way to reach me, so PLEASE don't hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns.
Your child will have a blue folder that will come home every afternoon. The front pocket will hold any forms that need to be filled out and returned to school. The back pocket will be any classwork, flyers, or announcements that can be left at home.
Money:
Please put all notes and lunch money in the front pocket of the folder. All money needs to be sent in a sealed envelope with the following:
Your child's name
1st-Stewart
Purpose of money
Amount of money
Your child's lunch number if it is lunch money
Library:
We go to the library every Tuesday. Please make sure your child turns in all library books by Tuesday morning, so that he/she will be able to check out 2 books each week.
Homework:
Your child should be reading TO you and WITH you each night for 20 minutes. Please record the nightly reading on the reading log that is found inside the daily folder.
Transportation:
Please clarify in writing (paper note or email) any transportation changes for your child. This is SO important in order to ensure your child's safety. Please discuss with your child how he/she will go home each day.
Attendance, Tardies & Absences:
Students can arrive at school anytime between 7:15 and 7:45. Students are considered tardy after 7:45, and a parent is required to sign them in at the front desk. In the case of an absence, parents must send a note or doctor's excuse within 3 days explaining the absence in order for the absence to be excused. Please consult the handbook for specific attendance and tardy policies.
