German Scholarship
Each year the German Honor Society awards a $500 scholarship to a senior who plans to continue their study of German at the Universty. This year we are honored to be awarding the Vestavia Hills High School German Scholarship to 2 outstanding seniors, who have taken 3 or more years of German at VHHS and plan to attend a 4-year institution in the coming fall, while pursuing either a major or minor in German.
This year’s 1st recipient is Kate LeNoir. Kate had the highest German National Exam score in the state of Alabama last year and she said that learning German has opened her mind to many new ideas and things she would never have thought about or known without it, including a whole new world of music, shows, games and books to explore. She plans to continue her studies in German at the University of Alabama and to study abroad.
This year’s 2nd recipient is Lauren Olivia Payne. Lo has learned German Christmas songs and gone Christmas caroling auf Deutsch with me the last 3 years in a row. She says taking German has changed her view of the world and the part she wants to play in a more global society. She plans to major in Global Studies and minor in German and Business at Auburn University. She also plans to study abroad.
Frau Duncan, Frau Patterson and Frau Buder are so proud both of you! Herzlichen Glückwunsch und viel Glück an der Universität!
