Our gifted program is an academic enrichment program for first-grade students through high school. The program is in addition to the regular classroom curriculum and requires each student to leave the regular classroom for periods of time during the school week to engage in activities for the gifted.  Some students will miss one-half of a day of their regular classroom program, depending on their grade level.

The gifted program is state-approved, and therefore, we must base student selection on criteria set forth by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  The state guidelines allow these services to be available for only 5% of the students in grades K-12.  Student scores on intelligence tests, achievement tests, and student performance evaluations that meet the state guidelines are put in rank order.  Students are identified for placement with the highest scores receiving first placement.
