T'was A New Summer Coming

Victor Zane Stucker

T’was a new summer coming

and the days grew more bright

there became more a day

and less of a night

The trees had relented

to bloom colors clean

yet not to a sadness

turning bright green

At last the sun

had reached its bright peak

its rays were warm now

not feeble and weak

The ice had melted

on the lake long ago

the water was warm and clear

it even seeming to glow

All of the rivers

that were in sight

flew genty and warmly

slow and light

All the things t’were in summer

seemed to flow as a song

spreading joy and happiness

merrily along

All things that grew

flowers, fruits and lime

made the whole world more bright

t’was no better summertime
