Tissues/Kleenex/paper towels (Please do not feel obliged to purchase these, but I am so appreciative if you're willing to contribute! It seems like with tissues we go through a box a week and even more during the winter.)
If you are so inclined, this is my Amazon Teacher Wishlist. No pressure or obligation.
Email/Phone: If you need to contact me, my plan period is period 8. I check my email during that time as well as occasionally during my lunch and will respond to you within 24 hours during the work week. I do not check my email at night or on the weekend.
Remind for students: Probably the easiest way to get in touch with me is through Remind. I find that using Remind is extremely beneficial for both keeping in touch with my students as well as answering questions.
What is Remind you might ask? Other than being totally awesome, it's a messaging service that I use to communicate with my students. Every day (around 3:00pm), I will post the homework for the day. If there is no homework, there will be no post. (This is what will occur most days. I do not give much homework.) I will also use Remind to send reminder messages and notifications, as needed. Students, have a question on your homework/lab/project or what the spirit day attire is for the next day? You can send me a message through Remind, and I'll answer ASAP!!! What's great about Remind is that you can have these messages either texted to your phone or sent as a push notification and both your and my phone numbers are kept totally confidential! (I get your messages as push notifications on my phone. If you download the free app, you can opt for push notifications as well.) A third option for communication is logging into www.remind.com and sending me a message through the website. Take a few minutes right now to click the link and sign-up!
Once you sign-up, students send me a message and tell me something fun you're doing this summer!
Period 1: Send a text message that says @aheckel1 to the number 81010 OR click this link: https://www.remind.com/join/aheckel1 (Just pick ONE - you don't have to do both.)
Period 2: Send a text message that says @aheckel2 to the number 81010 OR click this link: www.remind.com/join/aheckel2 (Just pick ONE - you don't have to do both.)
Period 4: Send a text message that says @aheckel4 to the number 81010 OR click this link: www.remind.com/join/aheckel4 (Just pick ONE - you don't have to do both.)
Period 6: Send a text message that says @aheckel5 to the number 81010 OR click this link: https://www.remind.com/join/aheckel6 (Just pick ONE - you don't have to do both.)
OR YOU CAN GO TO THE APP STORE AND DOWNLOAD THE FREE REMIND APP! The codes for my classes: Period 1 (@aheckel1), Period 2 (@aheckel2), Period 4 (@aheckel4), and Period 6 (@aheckel6). I actually prefer and recommend the app (if you have space on your phone). (FYI: Remind keeps both of our phone numbers confidential - you can't see mine and I can't see yours.) I answer Remind messages until about 10pm each night. (Although I reserve the right to go to bed earlier if needed! :)
Looking forward to seeing you all on September 3!
Sincerely,
Ms. H
