The SAFE (Students Advocating For Equality) Club is a student and staff-run club that focuses on providing a safe space for students to connect and discuss issues concerning the LGBTQ+ community. The mission of the H.B.W. SAFE Club is to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We work to promote kindness, understanding, and respect in our school community.
Through open conversations, educational activities, and allyship, we aim to reduce bullying and discrimination while building a more inclusive environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. The H.B.W. SAFE Club stands for equality, friendship, and the power of working together to make our school and community a better place for all. This is also a safe space for students to be themselves!
We will come together about twice a month to:
Hang out in a judgment-free zone
Discuss topics that are impacting the LGBTQ+ community
Create a more inclusive environment at H.B.W.
Engage in fundraising activities for LGBTQ+ causes
Create a bulletin board for Pride Month and take part in the Verona PRIDE Festival (June)
Please join us!!
Mrs. Gesario is the faculty advisor for the SAFE Club.
We will be meeting twice a month on Thursdays from 3:00-3:30 p.m. in Room 202 this year!
