Music Man Jr.:  Drama in the School

Every year the school does a musical. Prior performances include: Newsies, Matilda, Shreck, and Spondgebob! This year the school has decided to do Music Man Jr. The play is about a librarian and a music man who fall in love. The people who are directing the play are Marisa Albano, Ryan Pifher, Barbara Piercy, Micki Hardenberg, and Brian Michalowski. Some fifth graders have never done a play or a musical before and this is a new experience for them. Emma Chakmakjian has never done a school play before so this is what she would like to say about the play so far. “I think the play is going to be very good and after a lot of practice it will truly be amazing” This play is already great and will be an amazing one to see. 

Here are some of the roles: 

Harold Hill is going to be played by Ethan Kistner and Jack Daggs.  Ethan is in the Wells Fargo cast and Jack is in the Rock Island cast. Harold Hill is a band organiser who is quick on his feet and has a lot of charm. 

 Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn is going to be played by Lilly Russell and Maddy Halsey. She is the Mayor Shinn’s wife, and is very dramatic. She is very self-important, and also the head of the Ladies Auxiliary. This will be a fun role for Lilly Russell and Maddy Halsey to play!

Tommy Djilas is going to be played by Dylan Lareau and Rüzgar Aksu. He is a boy who is in love with Zaneeta Shinn. Harold helps Tommy to get approval of the Shinn family and is known as a troublemaker to the adults but is a well-hearted boy. This role will be a tough one for Dylan Lareau and Rüzgar Aksu but I’m sure they will be great at it.

 Marian Paroo will be played by Alana Rybak and Avery Gaffny. She is the town librarian and a piano teacher. She is smart and initially resistant to Harold’s charm. She is also the sister of Winthrop, and has high standards. 

Zaneeta Shinn will be played by Giada Quilici and Sofia Fede. Zaneeta is Mr. Shinns eldest daughter. She is naive, dramatic and madly in love with Tommy Djilas.

The Featured Dancers of the play are: Diana Holland, Addison Venezia, Claire Sheridan, Emily Ten Broeck, Kelsey Walsh, Julia Shrayman, Mia Ludlow, Marissa Barshay, Madison Mackenzie and. This is a great role and will be played very well by these people.

Here are the townspeople soloists! Joss DeRuyter, Abby Serra, Andria Kiel, Cate Ford, Isla Miles, Maddalena Burguillos, Zoe Gatti and Sophia Stucker. What an awesome role!

The Mayor Shinn will be played by Davis DeRuyter ( Rock Island ) and Jonathan Nobilione. ( Wells Fargo ) Mayor Shinn is the Mayor of River City. He is married to Eulalie and has a daughter named Zanetta and Gracie. He is tough and has very high expectations.  This is going to be great for Davis DeRuyter and Jonathan Nobilione!

The play will have live performances on March 27th, 28th, and 29th.  The students' hard work is definitely paying off, and will be a great show!
