Mr. Browne's Music Page

Welcome to music!

Hello, friends!  I hope you'll join me every Thursday on Zoom. We will have fun singing, chanting, moving,  listening, exploring, and learning about all things MUSIC.

Lessons are a half hour long.  Plan to log in  a few minutes early and test out your sound.  (I will have music playing.)  Classes will need to stay muted, but I hope you will keep your cameras ON.  I love to watch the students participate!

Check here before logging in.  I WILL POST ON THIS PAGE IF I HAVE TO CANCEL A CLASS!  I will make it big and obvious at the top of the page!  Try refreshing this page on your browser occasionally to view updates.

Are the lessons recorded?

Not usually.  If I get enough requests, I will consider making this a part of my weekly routine. For now, my opinion is that teaching live is much more effective and interactive than if classes view the lesson from a recording.  What do you think?  Let me know.

My class really likes a particular song/activity? Where can I find this online.

I find many of these activities online and would be happy to share my sources.  Please email me at paul.browne@venturausd.org

Should the class log in on chromebooks?

No.  We have found over the years that this model of teaching works best with the class participating together, viewing the lesson on a single screen.  When students log in from separate devices, student engagement is much lower and misbehavior (i.e. constant use of chat feature and unmuting at inappropriate times) is much more prevalent, making for a worse experience for other classes that have logged in.  Therefore, I generally do not allow students to log in individually.  Please email me if you would like me to make an exception or if you would like to discuss.  Thank you.

My camera isn't working.  Can we still participate?

Yes. My preference is to see the students participating, but there are many classes who participate week after week without a camera.  The more the merrier!

Where in the world are you, Mr. Browne?

I have constructed my Zoom studio in a top secret undisclosed location deep in the belly of the Earth.  However, I typically Zoom from a classroom at Sheridan Way Elementary School.
