This mobility was carried out from the 31st of March until the 4th of April in Istituto Comprensivo San Giovanni Bosco in Isernia, Italy. The various activities were structured around six main themes throughout the week.
First, citizenship and European values were reinforced through presentations, workshops, inclusion activities for people with disabilities, and discussions. This allowed our students to gain a broader cultural background from the European Union and strengthened their sense of belonging. Furthermore, they became more tolerant and accepting the differences that intrinsically represent us.
Furthermore, they increased their cultural knowledge through excursions, games, attending classes, and staying with host families. In this way, they acquired cultural competences, respect for and appreciation of other cultures, self-awareness, skills to acquire learning and problem-solving abilities, as well as self-esteem and self-confidence, respecting the different opinions of others and valuing them at the same time.
Thirdly, inclusion of people with disabilities was promoted through physical activities and games. Our students have realized the importance of being aware of the limitations of people with physical and mental disabilities. Therefore, it is vital for these individuals to be included in daily school activities as well as in games.
Fourthly, it is clear that one of the objectives is to improve English language skills through interaction with peers, workshops, and games. In this way, students' range of activities can be expanded and their horizons broadened.
Furthermore, students and teachers have exchanged best practices through presentations, reflections, discussions, and comparisons. This particularly refers to the Italian education system, which, although very similar to the Spanish one, has subtle differences from which we can learn as professionals and students.
Finally, one of the key points is valuing European cultural heritage. Recognizing the value of UNESCO and European Union programs in promoting our heritage while instilling the importance of protecting it. This objective was reinforced during the visit to the Roman city of Pompeii.
