Volunteer Process

VENDOR CLEARANCE FOR WORKING WITH VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT YOUTH

The following is instructions for completing the necessary steps to obtain clearance to work with VCUSD students:

Step 1: Gather Required Documents

• Tuberculosis (TB) Test Result (within 3 years) or current TB Risk Assessment, available on the VCUSD Website, signed off by medical provider)

• Valid Government Issued ID

Step 2: Complete the Application:

• Complete the ‘Volunteer’ application online at Become a VCUSD Volunteer

• You will need upload your documents, which includes government issued ID and TB clearance (Risk Assessment is another option for TB).

• Submit Application

• Print the forms from the Link that appears after your application is submitted. If you do not have access to a printer, please stop by Human Resources to pick up a copy of the Live Scan form.

Step 3: Fingerprinting through Live Scan

As a volunteer/vendor you will be required to have a background check processed through the Department of Justice (DOJ). This requires being fingerprinted through Live Scan. DOJ does not share information between school districts, companies or other agencies so even if you have been fingerprinted for another district or entity, you will need to be fingerprinted for VCUSD.

To be fingerprinted you can go to a live scan location of your choice.

• Through an outside Live Scan service

  • You will need to print two (2) copies of the “Request for Live Scan Service” form. (UPS will charge you if you only have 1)

  • Complete the Application Information section of the form

  • Cost $32 for DOJ and a rolling fee that will vary at different location.

Step 5: Clearance

• Email a copy of the live scan form to HR.

• You will receive a clearance letter via email once all of your documents and DOJ clearance is received. If you have any questions or would like to check your status, contact Human Resources.
