But feel free to take a look around.
This site is a revision of the original Z.O.M.B.I.E. Guide, which was created in response to the rapid transition to remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic in spring 2020. While it was created specifically for instructors at VCU School of the Arts, it may be applicable to instructors from other higher education and K12 institutions.
The hope is that this iteration provides an easier way to navigate some of the old information while also providing some new resources. As with the first version, this is a living, breathing document and will update and change with time as well.
We've got a long a journey ahead of us, and I know you've already come so far. Whether you survived the emergency transition during the spring or this coming fall is your first time teaching, this resource is meant as a place to pick up fresh supplies and have the space to reflect on your needs as someone teaching the arts during a time of crisis.
P.S. We do the best what we can, with the tools we have. That is still more than enough.
This resource has been reimagined in the format of an actual (apocalyptic) survival guide and is organized around two guiding questions:
Why am I teaching art during a pandemic?
How can I teach art during a pandemic?
These resources focus on your needs as a human being living during a time of crisis, who happens to being teaching art.
These resources focus on your needs as someone teaching during a time of crisis, whose subject matter happens to be art.
This interactive slide deck provides a comprehensive overview of the different categories and resources in this guide. (WIP)
