VCS Recognized as a Diamond Badge School by Nebraska Department of Education

Valentine Community Schools was recognized in August 2024 by the Nebraska Department of Education School Safety & Security in the “Place School Safety First” campaign.This campaign identifies Nebraska schools that are meeting the highest standards of safety and security.

Schools can earn a Diamond badge, scoring 95% or better; a Gold badge, scoring 80-94%; or a Silver badge, scoring 70-79%. These badges highlight the schools commitment to ensuring the safety and security of students, staff and visitors. Effective learning can only take place in a safe environment and this recognition reassures the community that their schools are actively fulfilling the four pillars of safety: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.

Valentine Community Schools earned a Diamond badge for their hard work in maintaining an Emergency Operations Plan, completing the required trainings, conducting monthly drills and continuing best practices for school safety.

The Diamond badges will be displayed on the schools entry ways, website and social media to continually remind any guest in their buildings or digital media sites that they are doing all they can to protect citizens at their school.
