It's late spring… you know what that means—testing season. More tests, more reviews, more ways to repackage skills we've already taught a dozen times. But here's the thing: whether you're full-on BTC obsessed or just starting to dip your toes into the BTC pool, it’s actually the perfect moment to try out some vertical-visible learning strategies.
Think: making connections across skills, giving students a real chance to see their progress, and letting them dive into their own data to pinpoint their gaps. It’s not just review—it’s strategic, student-centered reflection. Want to get them interested in reviewing? Don't hand them a big ol' packet, instead give students choice in the skills they need/want to revisit, let them unpack common misconceptions, and arm them with test-taking strategies that boost their confidence and help them “THINK it out” when the problems get tough.
Let’s make this review season actually worth the time. Ready to mix it up?
Below are some questions to keep in mind as you plan to review with students along with some presentation slides that can be helpful in planning your review activities.
Keep these questions in mind as your PLCs make their review plans.
