Course Registration Information for 2023-2024
School counselors will be meeting with students one-on-one starting Thursday, January 4, 2023, to plan for courses for the 2023-2024 school year. The purpose of the individual meetings are for students to review their graduation requirements and to discover course options to meet their academic and career goals.
Class Meetings - In English 9 and 10, VA & US History, and TOK I Classes
Rising Grade 10 Meetings
Term 1: January 22-24
Term 2: February 9-15
Rising Grade 11 Meetings
Term 1: January 8-10, 18, 19
Term 2: February 7-9
Rising Grade 12 Meetings
Term 1: January 4-5
Term 2: February 1-6
Prior to meeting with their school counselor to plan courses for their academic and career goals, students should consider the following:
Diploma Type: Advanced or Standard (See Information Below)
Post-secondary Plans: College/University, Military, or Work/Career
VBCPS Options for High School Students (See Information Below)
Advanced Technology Center, Technical & Career Center, Environmental Studies Program, Dual Enrollment, Apprentice X Shipbuilding, Veterinary Science Program
Use StudentVUE to research your credit history and requirements as they relate to your diploma type.
Log in to your StudentVUE to view your course history and graduation requirements.
A green bar indicates you have completed the course requirements for graduation.
An orange bar indicates in progress (currently in the course).
A gray bar indicates the course requirement is needed for graduation.
Discuss your course options with your current teachers; they are experts in their field and will have useful recommendations.
Consider your interests, hobbies, and passions when choosing your electives.
Consider the rigor of your coursework and whether Honors, AP, or IB courses are a good fit.
Discuss your plans with your parents/guardians.
