The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) is responsible for public relations and communication within the unit. They organize and arrange for publicity of NJROTC events and activities, including annual inspections, competitions, and fund-raisers as well as creating and editing articles, press releases, and other communication materials to inform the public about the unit's activities and initiatives. PAO ensures the NJROTC website is up-to-date and reflects the unit's activities. Furthermore, their duties involve capturing and documenting the history and accomplishments of the NJROTC unit through photos, videos, and written reports. They take part in utilizing public affairs materials and strategies to support NJROTC recruitment efforts.Â
