Google Meet vs Zoom

Virginia Beach City Public Schools has determined that security protocols in place for Zoom are adequate for online instruction. Therefore, effective immediately, teachers will be afforded the option of using whichever platform best supports their instructional needs. Please contact your child's teacher if you aren't certain which platform they are using or where their meeting link or meeting code (nickname) is posted. In this space we will only post generic information for using both systems.

Which Apps are Experiencing Technical Issues?

Bugs Bunny had it right, but not with Elmer Fudd...let's talk apps. Many of the apps our students use are interconnected. If one goes down it can take others with it, especially if that app is ClassLink.

ClassLink serves as a portal to nearly every other app we use, including Schoology, Seesaw, and Zoom. The advantage of using a portal is that it allows us to (theoretically) skip multiple challenges for credentials, which is particularly important for our youngest learners.

If you need to know whether or not the trouble you're experiencing is limited to your child's Chromebook or affects everyone, use the list below for links to status reports for some of the most frequently-used apps at Ocean Lakes ES. If the status shows the resource is down or slow, there is little or nothing we will be able to do about it immediately. It also means that VBCPS is aware of the issue and working with the vendor to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Outages are just as frustrating to us as they are to you. Really.

Ever wonder which systems are "up" or "down?" To find out if it's just you or everyone on the planet, check out these links:
