Homework

Dear Parents,

Throughout my teaching career I have not found homework to have a greater impact on my students’ lives and learning than spending quality time with their families. Because of this, I do not assign formal homework in my course. The only time that your student would have homework would be if they did not get their work done in the time given in class. I hope that this policy allows them more time for their social and emotional development as well as quality time with you.

Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. Rather, I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate to student success. Eat dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early.

Thanks,

Arcadia Parson
