People go to the store and buy tons and tons of plastic and, then what? It all just goes in the trash. Sad, I know! I've seen it. Did you know that about 75% of sea creatures die from plastic. If we take action now, we can reduce plastic in the ocean by 45%, the beauty of animals, making our ocean and earth better. Unless steps are taken to properly manage waste by 2025 the ocean could contain 1 ton of plastic for every 3 tons of fin-fish-- do you hear that? That’s ⅓ of the amount of fish in OUR oceans! But we can do something to help!

I have opened up a fish I had caught with my dad and it had a lot of plastic debris in it like this.

My solution is to be mindful of what you buy. Does it have a lot of plastic packaging, and is there a better alternative? This will help reduce the plastic that kills animals, and us.

Reduce, Refuse, Rethink

Don’t Buy

Disposable water bottles

Small individual yogurt cups

Plastic utensils or cups

Plastic grocery bags (or at least reuse them for garbage instead of buying more trash can liners, or crochet them into a reusable bag)

Spices in plastic containers

DVD’s

Bagged popcorn or snacks

Bagged frozen vegetables

Soda in plastic bottles (but large plastic soda bottles are awesome for making stomp rockets!!!!!!)

Plastic toys

Buy instead

Nalgene type reusable plastic or glass or metal

Large containers/make your own

Bring your own silverware and wash it

Paper or cloth reusable bags

Bulk bin spices

Stream movies

Make your own popcorn using a popper on the stove

Grow your own garden

Soda cans in a box

Buy wooden toys or play outside :)
