Full Year Course
You need to choose one enrichment to include on your timetable.
There are five categories to choose from, but you can only select one enrichment session from one category.
You can choose one of the following:
Basketball
Take part in regular training on a Wednesday afternoon and have the opportunity to represent the college.This is a great opportunity to develop skills, make new friends and work on fitness alongside playing Basketball. All skill levels and abilities are welcome.
Duke of Edinburgh Award (DoE)
The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award is for young people 16+ who can gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs for university and job applications. There are five sections to complete and they involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and working with a team on a residential activity.
Netball
Netball enrichment classes give you the chance to have fun and socialise with people from all over the college! The sessions are during lunchtime or on a Wednesday afternoon and are a great way to enjoy some sport and possibly represent the college in competitive fixtures.
Social Football
Football enrichment classes give you the chance to have fun and socialise with people from all over the college! The sessions are during lunchtime or on a Wednesday afternoon and are a great way to enjoy some sport and possibly represent the college in competitive fixtures.
Sports Social
Meet new people and play relaxing team sports together. Try your hand at table tennis and badminton among other sports.
Rugby
Rugby enrichment classes give you the chance to have fun and socialise with people from all over the college! The sessions are during lunchtime or on a Wednesday afternoon and are a great way to enjoy some sport and possibly represent the college in competitive fixtures.
Varndean Football Academy Programme - First and Second Team
The football programme training sessions will take place on a Monday and Thursday, with competitive matches on a Wednesday afternoon. The college takes part in a regional league and three cup competitions. This is a competitive programme and not recreational. Weekly representation of the college and the opportunity to play at a high level. Many of our past students have represented Sussex and England
Women's Football

Yoga
In our yoga sessions you will be invited to get familiar with this ancient self-care practice and discover its physical and mental benefits, through the exploration of gentle and mindful physical activity.
At Varndean College we recognise that accessing sports on a gender basis can feel difficult for some students. Therefore we encourage you to speak to your Tutor or a member of the Sports Department if you would like further help or support in accessing the sports of your choice.
