Climate Action Roadmap
Climate Action Roadmap
In October 2020, Varndean College, working with FE Sussex, jointly pledged commitment to the FE Climate Action Roadmap which is a county-wide series of actions to set colleges on a path towards achieving net zero by 2030 in respect of our carbon emissions and to be a leading college in sustainability. This collaboration with other local colleges in Sussex is the first example of a group of colleges to adopt a national roadmap for climate action. You can view our progress on this Roadmap here.
We offer the Carbon Literacy Qualification as part of our commitment to Environmental Sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) which is supported by The Education and Training Foundation (ETF). This partnership is reflected in our curriculum where carbon literacy is embedded into all our courses.
We have calculated the carbon footprint of the college which is published in the Carbon Footprint Report 2022 which also sets out our Targets for initially mitigating (offsetting) and then reducing our Scope 3 emissions, taking action towards being net zero by 2030.
