Supply List

Students do not have to have to purchase their own instrument. VBO has high-quality instruments for students to check out, and the directors will teach you how to care for them properly.  If you are interested in purchasing your own instrument or supplies, please speak with Mrs. Amorim for recommendations before buying anything, and please do NOT purchase an instrument over the internet.

Below are the instruments and accessories we will use in Orchestra.  All of these items can be checked out from the school at no cost.  Sharing instruments may be a possibility, although the directors will do everything possible to avoid this.

• a violin, viola, cello, or bass with bow and case in good working condition

• Rosin specific for your instrument

• Violin/Viola: Kun brand collapsible shoulder rest

• Cello: Xeros brand Endpin anchor

• Bass: Xeros brand Endpin anchor, sitting stool, adjustable guitar foot stool

  • Stool recommendations: Mainstays Black folding metal stool from Walmart (basic), Vestil CPRO-800LP Ergonomic Worker Seat/Chair from Amazon (adjustable and will last over time)

Updating

• Formal Uniform - used for all concerts/recorded concert programs

  • Varsity (9-12 grades) Boys: School-issued tuxedo with all components, personal black dress socks, personal black dress shoes

  • Varsity (9-12 grades) Girls: School-issued dress gowns, personal black hose or trouser socks, personal black dress shoes

  • Honor (8 grade) Boys: Ordered from the School Cousins website: Black dress slacks, white dress shirt, royal blue tie, personal black dress socks, personal black dress shoes

  • Honor (8 grade) Girls: Ordered from the School Cousins website: Black dress skirt, solid white blouse, optional: pop of royal blue color (scarf, bow, pin, etc.), personal black dress socks, personal black dress shoes

  • Advanced (7 grade) Boys: Ordered from the School Cousins website: Black dress slacks, white dress shirt, Ordered from the directors:  lime green tie, personal black dress socks, personal black dress shoes

  • Advanced (7 grade) Girls: Ordered from the School Cousins website: Black dress skirt, solid white blouse, personal black dress socks, personal black dress shoes, optional: pop of lime color (scarf, bow, pin, etc.), 

  • Intermediate & Beginning (6 grade) Boys: Black dress slacks, white dress shirt, black dress socks, black dress shoes

  • Intermediate & Beginning (6 grade) Girls: Black dress slacks or long skirt past the calf, solid white blouse, black dress socks, black dress shoes

• Informal Uniform (9-12 grades only) - used for semi-formal performances

  • Orchestra polo (ordered from the school,)  black slacks, black shoes

• Spirit Uniform (all students) - used for Guard Rallies, informal performances, and Spirit Days

  • Orchestra TShirt (ordered from the school,) jeans
