Mrs. Amorim grew up in Edinburg, Texas and began playing the cello in her school Orchestra in the 6th grade. During middle and high school, Mrs. Amorim was part of her school Orchestra until her senior year, and also participated in athletics and took rigorous Advanced Placement classwork. Mrs. Amorim graduated as salutatorian of her High School class and was offered a full tuition academic scholarship and a music scholarship to attend Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
Mrs. Amorim received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Southwestern University, and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas - Pan American. The 2023-202 school year will be her 24th year of teaching Orchestra. Her students have received many awards and recognitions, including UIL Sweepstakes Awards, UIL Solo & Ensemble Awards, TMEA All-Region and All-State placements, college music scholarships, and have been able to meet people and travel the world because of their music. Her students have travelled to China, Mexico, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, England, Scotland, Canada, Italy, Aruba, and all over the United States all because they joined and excelled in Orchestra.
Most recently, the Vanguard Beethoven Middle School and High School Orchestras both earned the coveted UIL Sweepstakes trophies. In March, 2023, the VBO Double Bass Ensemble was selected as one of only 2 groups in Texas to perform at the Summer Convention of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association - what an honor!
Mrs. Amorim joined the Vanguard Family in 2019 and is so excited to build the Orchestra Tradition of Excellence at Beethoven. She lives in Edinburg with her husband, two daughters, Emily and Clara, and her three cats, Canela, Pepper, and Olive.
Violinist Adriana Rodriguez has had a varied career as a soloist, orchestral musician, and teacher. Shortly after beginning her violin studies at the age of seven, she was invited to perform as a regular member of the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil de Reynosa. Since that time, Rodriguez has performed as a member of several regular and festival orchestras, including Interharmony International Music Festival in Hinterzarten, Germany, the Bay View Music Festival in Michigan, the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Live Orchestra. Rodriguez is now an active member of the Valley Symphony Orchestra in McAllen, TX.
Her passion for teaching has led Rodriguez to serve as violin instructor for Bosky Strings in Edinburg, TX, Antonio Strad in McAllen, TX, Coppell Music Academy in Coppell, TX, Rock & Bach Music School in Frisco, TX, and as a consultant for the Frisco ISD, based in North Dallas, TX. Rodriguez is currently teaching at Vanguard Academy in Edinburg, TX
Rodriguez earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of North Texas College of Music, where she was able to participate in the UNT Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and the UNT Baroque Orchestra, and where she studied under Dr. Felix Olschofka. Her additional studies include baroque violin with Cynthia Roberts, a professor at the Juilliard School, Eunice Keem, assistant concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Geoffrey Wong, concertmaster of the Valley Symphony Orchestra.
