about mrs. amorim

Mrs. Amorim grew up in Edinburg, Texas and began playing the cello in her school Orchestra in the 6th grade.  During middle and high school, Mrs. Amorim was part of her school Orchestra until her senior year, and also participated in athletics and took rigorous Advanced Placement classwork.  Mrs. Amorim graduated as salutatorian of her High School class and was offered a full tuition academic scholarship and a music scholarship to attend Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

Mrs. Amorim received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Southwestern University, and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas - Pan American.  The 2023-202 school year will be her 24th year of teaching Orchestra.  Her students have received many awards and recognitions, including UIL Sweepstakes Awards, UIL Solo & Ensemble Awards, TMEA All-Region and All-State placements, college music scholarships, and have been able to meet people and travel the world because of their music.  Her students have travelled to China, Mexico, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, England, Scotland, Canada, Italy, Aruba, and all over the United States all because they joined and excelled in Orchestra.

Most recently, the Vanguard Beethoven Middle School and High School Orchestras both earned the coveted UIL Sweepstakes trophies.  In March, 2023, the VBO Double Bass Ensemble was selected as one of only 2 groups in Texas to perform at the Summer Convention of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association - what an honor!

Mrs. Amorim joined the Vanguard Family in 2019 and is so excited to build the Orchestra Tradition of Excellence at Beethoven.  She lives in Edinburg with her husband, two daughters, Emily and Clara, and her three cats, Canela, Pepper, and Olive.
