Mozart Elementary's core values
At Mozart Elementary, our core values guide how we learn, work, and interact each day. We strive to instill positive behaviors that help our students grow into respectful, responsible, and safe members of our school community.
Be Respectful – We show kindness, empathy, and consideration for ourselves and others.
Be Responsible – We make thoughtful choices and take ownership of our actions and learning.
Be Safe – We act in ways that keep ourselves and others safe, both in and out of the classroom.
By modeling and reinforcing these values, we create a positive and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed.
Counselors Corner
School counseling services include individual and small group counseling, crisis intervention, classroom guidance lessons, and collaboration with staff and parents to support academic, career, and social-emotional development. Counselors provide direct support to students for a variety of issues, such as personal and behavioral challenges, and also collaborate with others to remove barriers to learning and help students plan for the future. Last week students participated in Red Ribbon Week activities and a listened to a special presentation provided by the Department of Pubic Safety.
Here are some highlights of our amazing activities promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Parents can support learning at home by establishing a supportive environment with a routine and a dedicated study space, engaging in consistent communication with their child and teachers, and incorporating learning into daily life. Making learning fun through reading, games, and real-world activities is also crucial.
Attendance Matters
At Mozart Elementary, we know that every minute of learning counts! When students arrive late, leave early, or miss a day, they miss valuable instruction, discussions, and activities that support both academic and social growth. Even small amounts of missed time can make it harder for students to stay on track, as key lessons and practice opportunities are difficult to make up later. Over time, those few minutes here and there truly add up.
We understand that appointments and family needs sometimes can’t be avoided. Whenever possible, please try to schedule these outside of school hours and help your child be at school on time and ready to learn each day.
Instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. Please ensure students arrive on time so they are ready to start the day and not miss valuable learning.
Dismissal is at 3:45 p.m. Parents, please make the necessary arrangements to have students picked up promptly at dismissal time.
Early pick-up cut-off time is 3:00 p.m. To minimize classroom interruptions and ensure a smooth end to the school day, early dismissals must occur before this time.
Thank you for your cooperation and support to ensure every student has the best opportunity to succeed!

Kindergarten
1st Grade
Our first graders have been hard at work in their Math and Reading centers! These centers give students the opportunity to explore important skills in fun, hands-on way, from practicing addition and subtraction to strengthening their reading fluency and comprehension.
One of the most valuable parts of center time is learning to work together. Students are building teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills as they help one another and share ideas. We love seeing them collaborate and support each other as they learn!
2nd Grade
Mrs. Cavazos’ class traveled back in time during a Gallery Walk about Ancient Greece! Students rotated through stations featuring Greek culture, government, mythology, and the Olympic Games. They explored artifacts, read short texts, and made connections to how Greek ideas still shape our world today. Students have also been strengthening their literacy skills through the Amplify Boost reading platform, applying their comprehension strategies across subjects.
Mrs. Montoya’s class has been diving into place value in math and sound in science through engaging, hands-on learning! Students have taken on roles as mini-teachers, worked in partners, explored live strip diagrams, learned outdoors, and created string phones to explore how sound travels through vibrations. These interactive experiences are helping students strengthen problem-solving skills, build teamwork, and make learning exciting every day!
Mrs. Madrigal’s class has been showcasing their creativity and collaboration! Students worked with partners to design and present their own artwork inspired by the War of 1812, connecting history with artistic expression. In addition, they’ve been participating in buddy reading, building fluency, confidence, and a love for reading while supporting one another.
Mrs. Vasquez’s class has been exploring place value by making connections to money and regrouping through fun, hands-on math activities. In science, students investigated sound with engaging vibration experiments, discovering how sound travels and changes. These interactive lessons help students think like mathematicians and scientists while having fun learning!
3rd Grade
4th Grade
This month, our 4th grade students explored the American Revolution and the powerful ideas behind life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To connect these concepts to real life, each class held its own Student Council election, giving students the opportunity to vote for a class representative.

Fine Arts
❤️🎨Our art students are learning about the Element of Art: Form by creating 3D clay sculptures to celebrate Kindness Day! Each student designed an original piece to remind themselves to be kind to others and to themselves — or to share as a thoughtful gift in the spirit of kindness.
♥️💃Our PK3 dance students are dancing with scarves — showcasing their dance skills while also developing coordination, movement, and both fine and gross motor skills through fun scarf activities.
Girl Scouts
Girl Scout Troop 1104 at Mozart Elementary is now celebrating its 4th year! What started with just 7 girls has grown into a strong, vibrant Troop of 28 Girl Scouts and 23 dedicated parent volunteers. Together, they’ve built a community of creativity, leadership, and friendship that continues to grow each year.
🌸🍃Our Girl Scouts completed a Journey Award in a Day!
They explored how the Girl Scout Promise and Law guide them to be better friends and caretakers of the world around them. Through hands-on activities, they learned about caring for a garden, conserving water, and the power of teamwork.
As their Take Action project, the girls have committed to protecting, caring for, and maintaining our school garden — growing not just plants, but leadership, friendship, and responsibility!🌸🌎💪
Mini Knightettes
♥️🖤The Mini Knightettes had two amazing performances last week — at the 2nd Annual Dance Recital, "Raíces de Otoño," and at the ACE event, "Lights On Afterschool." They did a wonderful job showcasing their talent and hard work!
If you want to see them perform again, you have a chance — the Mini Knightettes will be performing on November 13 at 7 PM during halftime at Bert Ogden. The team would greatly appreciate your support as they perform. They have been practicing for hours to make this halftime performance special.
Please see the flyer and scan the QR code to get your tickets — you’ll get to enjoy a basketball game and see the Mini Knightettes perform!
