The Brown and Gold Alumni Program (BGAP) at Valparaiso University is a collaborative initiative that empowers alumni to play a meaningful role in shaping the university’s future, one student at a time. Through this program, Valpo alumni serve as ambassadors in their local communities, offering authentic insight into the Valpo experience and helping to recruit the next generation of Valpo students
Alumni bring a unique perspective rooted in lived experience, pride, and personal growth. By sharing their stories and answering questions candidly, they help prospective students imagine themselves thriving at Valpo, while deepening their own ties to the community that helped shape them. Whether through college fair representation, handwritten letters, or phone/email/virtual outreach, BGAP members help bring the spirit of Valpo to life for students and families making one of the most important decisions of their lives.
College fairs are typically organized by high schools or school districts and bring together representatives from numerous institutions to connect directly with students. These provide a valuable opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn about a wide range of colleges and universities, including Valparaiso University. BGAP members will represent Valpo at college fairs in their area!
Writing handwritten letters is a personal and meaningful way to connect with future Valpo students. You will receive an envelope filled with Valpo postcards along with a list of students names and intended major or minor. The letters are intended to offer students a warm welcome to Valpo. Share a Valpo story, encourage them to visit campus, and give them the opportunity to feel connected to the university.
Connect directly with admitted students by phone or email. We will connect you with an admitted/deposited student as we receive requests. Acting as a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact, you will congratulate them and help answer questions about what life at Valpo is really like. Questions can range from student experiences to career opportunities in their area of interest.
