THE SEASON IS HERE. Practices Start August 4th for Fall Sports.
Athletic Training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Training is recognized by American Medical Association, Health Resources Service Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services as an allied health care profession. As an Athletic Trainer, my services include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. I work in collaboration with local physicians and health care professionals to provide the best possible care for athletes. Athletic Trianers are sometimes confused with personal trainers. There is, however, a large difference in the education, skillset, job duties and patients of an athletic trainer and a personal trainer. The Athletic Training academic curriculum and clinical training follows the medical model.
Meet Your Athletic Trainer
Hey y'all! My name is Tammy Marton and I am overjoyed to be the Athletic Trainer for Valor. I am originally from Waco and am excited to be back home serving this community. I received my B.S. in Athletic Training from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em!). This will be my 10th year as a certified Athletic Trainer. I have provided care for a wide variety of Athletes over the years, but God has put a special place in my heart for secondary student athletes. Before coming to Valor, I worked for the Seattle Children's Hospital outreach program; serving Eastside Preparatory School, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, US Soccer and The University of Washington. I find sports medicine to be a unique ministry in which athletes can be cared for physically and discipled spiritually.
I have been married to my husband (Sonny) for 9 years and have two children, three dogs and a cat. I am an avid outdoors woman and enjoy traveling, offroading, horseback riding, and game nights with my family. I am excited to break ground as the first Athletic Trainer for Valor and am committed to furthering God's Kingdom here.
