FAQ

How do I sign my kid up for Valor Athletics?

Registrations are sent out in the newsletter for sports from 4th-12th grade

How does HS Varsity sports differ from the rest of Valor sports?

Our varsity teams are expected to compete at the district, regional, and state level. With that comes added committment in time, practice intensity, and high level competition. While sports are but a piece of what is offered at Valor, those that compete at the varsity level must maintain a higher focus and practicum then maintained before.

When do they pick up their uniforms/PE clothes?

This is coordinated with the coaches and athletic department for the Logic & Rhetoric School athletes and the league sport athletes are provided them for pickup from their teachers.

Can my child play multiple sports in the same season?

YES! However, we would like to reiterate that competitions take precedence over practices if either of the sports conflict.

WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO PARTAKE IN TRACK

Can my child play a sport that Valor does not offer?

For all high school athletes starting in 2023-2024 any student that plays a sport for a different association forfeits all eligibility for Valor Athletics if Valor is already offering that sport according to TAPPS regulations. So yes your athlete can participate in that sport IF Valor does not offer it, but once they do, they forfeit eligibility if they remain with that team.

Can my child play for an outside team even though Valor offers the sport?

No. This makes them ineligible for all other seasons of sport.

Who do we play?

UIL 1A-3A, TAPPS 1A-4A, and some TAIAO & TCAF schools that allow for eligibility

How does our game scheduling affect academics and student life?

While much of our activities strive to be balanced around each other, subvarsity HS sports and below will prioritize family time and academia in its scheduling. At the varsity level there might be some crossover but we encourage that to be a part of your discussion with your child as they continue in varsity athletics...

My child is traveling and missing class, what do we need to do for his/her academics?

Why do we lift & are they always required?

Lifting is an essential piece to being successful in athletics. Conducting proper body mechanics and learning that at the JH level is key to becoming bigger, stronger, and faster at the high school level. While there are some lifts that can be required at the varsity level, other lifts are optional as we seek to honor those who want to put in extra work while allowing others to get their family time they seek as part of the Valor community.

I can't take my child to the away game or pick up from practice/game, is there an approval process for another parent to take my child?

Team Travel Release Form

We also seek to provide van transportation. HS will take priority in that regard to limit our athletes having to drive. If you are aware of any prospects for additional transportation please reach out to Stephen Byrd via email stephen.byrd@valorprep.com or to make a donation through the booster club, please reach out to Brent McFarling.
