Four levels of classes happen at Summitvue STEAM.
The 6th grade Basic Computer STEAM class is an introduction to computer and computer science in general with an introduction to very basic engineering. This class introduces students to techniques of using Chrome OS and Google Suites as well as an exploration of engineering
building simple bridges and towers,
rebuilding small appliances or apparatus,
building motors, 3D printing and exploring gears, and
beginning building and use of robots.

Introduction to Computer STEAM is designed for 7th and 8th grade students who have little previous introduction to computer programming and STEAM principles. This class leads the students in JavaScript programming using Google Sheets and Apps Script. Students also explore
rebuilding computer components,
simple graphic design techniques,
address a challenge in 3D design, engineering, and printing,
begin to explore Arduino and electronics
practice the building and use of VEX IQ robots.

Intermediate Computer STEAM is for 7th graders that have already completed Introduction and any 8th graders ready to start at a level beyond introduction. This class focuses in website design beginning with just one web page and gradually adding several more pages. The class well introduced students to web design code with and HTML basis, CSS for styling, JavaScript for programming, and a possible introduction to PHP programming. Students also enjoy projects:
Combining elements of several images to produce a new Graphic Design,
Rebuilding computers.
Building and programming robots,
3D challenges or choice projects.
Electronics projects with resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, LEDs, switches, and more,
Arduino projects and an introduction to IOT.

8th Grade Advanced Computer STEAM is a class designed for students who have preformed well in the other STEAM classes and demonstrate high interest and motivation in continuing with STEAM. These students focus on projects to develop their skills in
Programming (JavaScript, PHP, Python, or Java),
Networking,
3D Engineering including an opportunity to build a 3D printer,
Robot Development (and leadership in robotics teams),
Graphic Design
Audio / Video editing.
