The student agenda goes back and forth between school and home daily. It is an useful tool to teach students how to organize their day. Students should be listing assignments and monitoring what is completed or not completed daily. Weekly spelling words are written in the agenda. Students may also include notes reflecting other activities and events they are involved or interested in outside of the school day. Parents are expected to sign the agenda at least once a week.
Students will have Math Homework every night of the week with the exception of the last day. The completed homework is due the following day.
Each week students will write or glue a list of spelling words into their agenda. Students should practice these spelling words daily at home. There are online resources available for practice, but other more traditional methods of study work well, too. *See helpful resources for ideas.
Fourth grade students are expected to read at least 20 minutes daily at home. Students should be reading at their instructional level. Children who struggle with reading or are reading below grade level will benefit from reading aloud. It is helpful for students to be heard as they are reading. Look for opportunities to ask your fourth grader questions about the theme, main idea, problem (plot) or characters as they develop. Interacting with your child as they read makes reading more fun for everyone!
Book Reports
There will be book reports assigned quarterly for fourth grade students. They will choose a book to read at home and complete the project assigned reporting on what they have read. ALL materials for the project will be provided! Look for notes home in the future with more information.
Students may earn one through Class Dojo!
I may award the class with No Homework for random reasons! You'll get an email from me or a note in the Student Agenda.
See the slide show to understand the expectations of this Quarter 3 Book Report. Please note that all materials (excluding color pencils, crayons, and pencils) are provided. Students may staple the pages at school if they do not have access to a stapler.
