3rd graders built and programmed a robot with a distance sensor to guard their table. Tinkering (inspired by the story of Deadalus), learning from mistakes, and Problem Solving is what this project was really about!
Students summarized Greek Myths and created 5 scenes to retell the story in an animated movie. Find out about a lonely carver whose dream comes true, the reason we have seasons, why you shouldn't talk too much and many other famous and not-so famous myths.Â
Behind the Scenes
Students worked hard to create a scene in the epic story of Hercules. Check out their hard work and creativity!
3rd graders drew collaborative mazes and programmed a robot through it. Watch out! There were mythological creatures lurking in their labyrinths! Check out footage of them working through some problem-solving as they programmed.
Inspired by the Greek Myth, Theseus and The Minotaur, students created their own mazes that later grew into bigger labyrinths. Later students were challenged to design a protype of a maze that will house two monsters from mythology. Next week students will program a robot to react to the monsters and navigate through the maze. There were no dead-ends in our day - only in their labyrinths!
Our class was fortunate enough to have a real sleuth join us and share her real life career of solving mysteries. Forensic Evidence Technician, T. Koho challenged students with some hands on tasks! Take a peek at the activities in the video.
Student sleuths used a forensic technique called Chromatography to determine Who Wrote the Note! Students identified useful evidence, determined suspects, and ran the test to solve their mystery!
After observing and describing microscopic clues, students made a hypothesis of what the item might be. Hopefully the TOP SECRET clues helped the slueths with their final inference!
Third graders became movie directors, set designers, and programmers as they created a scene for our class movie. Find out about Fred's epic adventure sailing around the world and check out behind the scenes!
Third graders built and programmed their own robotic artists. Collaboration, critical- thinking, and time management were a big part of the task! Take a peek at their hard work.Â
Our amazing third graders started GT! Check out their creativity in an introduction project. The task: Show who you are and what's important to you in 7 slides. Click this link to see their work!
