5th Grade FIELD TRIP!
We went to Wilson Ponds and released the trout we have raised in the classroom, learned about aging trout with scales, practiced casting before actual fishing, did an art project, took a tour of the fish hatchery, and enjoyed our very last day of GT!
One student even caught a fish!!

It's the LAW! . . .
In 5th grade, students have been learning ALL about various aspects of the LAW! Here are some photos of them in action as they present their "debates"! Students researched and prepped short speeches and rebuttals to debate a topic being "for" or "against". Who knows, we might just have some future lawyers or judges in our class. . .

MINT ROLLER CHALLENGE!
Small groups were given a bag of few supplies and 12 minutes to create a vehicle to race down the track! The creation that made it the furthest distance before going out of bounds won! Innovative designs, creative thinking & collaboration, and great fun were the results of today's first challenge!
MATH CHALLENGE! . . . Building Higher Thinking & Solving Together!
Small groups were randomly selected and given an envelope with clues to solve their math challenge. They had to work together to share their information and knowledge to solve these higher level thinking challenges.
FIBONACCI & BINARY CODE
Students learned how to count and write in Binary Code! Ask them to write you a message in this and see if you can figure it out!
Fibonacci & the Golden Spiral! The Fibonacci Sequence is in almost everything. . . It is A-MAZING! Students explored this sequence of numbers in nature, in making the golden spiral, learned about the multiplying rabbits math problem based on Fibonacci's sequence, and more! 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, . . . . . and on!
