Grade 2 Week 35

4/29/24 - 5/3/24

Spalding/Spelling
We will test on 70 phonograms on Thursday May 2nd. Every week we test on 30 new spelling words and 10 review words.  We will have a spelling pretest on Thursday May 2nd.  On Friday May 3rd we will have the final test.  Those who score 100% on the pretest will not have to take the final test.

Reading/Book Reports
The story this week is “The First American in Orbit” in our From Sea to Sea text. The story and vocabulary list were sent home on Friday. Please read the story and study the vocabulary words daily. The reading and vocabulary tests will be on Thursday, May 2nd. This week’s story will receive a science and social studies grade as well as a reading grade.

 Please keep the story in a sheet protector in the blue homework folder.

Language
We will continue to compose sentences using this week’s spelling words.

Math
Saxon lessons 125-128 will be completed this week.

L125 – Determining unit cost; dividing by 6, 8, and 9

L126 – Showing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on a number line

L127 – Identifying units of measure for long distances; using scale to find distance on a map

L128 – Adding positive and negative numbers

Friday – Fourth Quarter Math Assessment

Science
We will do activities surrounding the eggs and chicks. 

Social Studies

We will continue our unit entitled A World of Many People. The test will be Thursday, May 2nd. Please go over the study guide with your child.
