📖 Academics This Week

Spalding / Spelling

• Phonograms: 30-phonogram test on Thursday (9/17).

• Spelling:

  • Pretest Thursday (9/17)

  • Final Test Friday (9/18) students with 100% on the pretest are excused from the final test

• Weekly spelling lists are sent home on Fridays.

Reading / Vocabulary / Book Reports

• Weekly Story: “Seeds and Civilization” (A Flint Holds Fire).

  • Printed copy should remain in the blue homework folder sheet protector (needed at home and at school).

• Test Thursday (9/18): Vocabulary (closed book) + Reading Comprehension (open book).

  • This grade will also count toward science and social studies.

• Vocabulary list was sent home Friday and should be reviewed daily.

• Book Reports: Parents, please help your child revise and edit for spelling, grammar, and clarity.

Language

• Focus: Adjectives, helping verbs, states of being, and pronouns.

• Please continue keeping Daily Grams (bell work) as review for future quizzes.

Math (Lessons 23–26)

• L23 – Counting dimes, nickels, and pennies

• L24 – Writing fractions using the fraction bar

• L25 – Adding 9; writing fraction sentences that equal 1

• L26 – Identifying dozen and half-dozen; fractions of a set

• Friday (9/19): Math Fact Assessment 4 & Written Assessment 4

Science

• No science unit this week.

Social Studies

• Continuing Unit 2: “The World Around Us.”

• Vocabulary Test Tuesday, September 29.

• Unit Test Wednesday, Sept. 30.

• Study guides and worksheets should be reviewed at home.
