Animal Report Reminders-
A sample report went home with your child weeks ago. Follow the format. Do not skip lines between paragraphs. Do not write on the back of the paper. Pages should not be numbered. Each paragraph should be indented one inch. The report should be written on the lined paper provided. Please do not use notebook paper for the final draft. If you need more paper, please let me know and I will send more home.
The report is a total of 5 paragraphs: introductory paragraph, 3 fact paragraphs (5-7 sentences), and a closing paragraph. The written portion also requires a title page and a bibliography. Use the introductory and concluding paragraph templates to complete those paragraphs.
Students should not copy entire sentences from their sources as that is plagiarism. Rather have them take information and write phrases or their own sentences.
The bibliography is a very simplified form. If you have questions, please ask. I do not expect a junior high/college level bibliography.
Remember, there needs to be a minimum of three sources. At least two books need to be used. All information cannot come from the internet.
Model projects were shown in class. This is not the same type of project that was done in first grade with the paper plate. Please follow the guidelines that were presented in the information packet.
The oral presentation should last no longer than five minutes. Students are not reading their report. They can prepare note cards however they should not be reading directly from them. They are to tell about their project or incorporate it into their presentation. They should be prepared to present. They should have five facts ready to share about their animal.
As a class, we will be completing our August book report in class together! Please keep an eye out for this in your child's blue folder.
All students should have received copies of their rough and final draft packets. These are both due together on .
Students have received their BooK Report Approval Form. This is due . Students need to choose a book from the Recommended Reading List and it must be a chapter book over 50 pages.
Students will be deducted 10 points per day for late submissions. In order to receive full points, the book report needs to be written in the student's own words. Parents/guardians/older siblings should be helping assisting in editing the rough draft with the child, but ultimately should not be telling them what to write.
Our book report is a Narrative from our Reccomended Reading List
