Senior Advanced English

Senior Advanced English (English IV)

This course aims to prepare college-bound students for success in a college environment. It involves completing required readings and written assignments similar to those in college freshman composition courses, utilizing word processors for college-level preparation. Students will undertake an extensive research paper and diverse oral presentations. The exploration of the five basic literature types (short story, drama, poetry, non-fiction, and novel) enhances understanding and complements essay requirements. Responsibility for all work, assignments, and policies rests with the students, with handouts available upon request for missed classes. Timely completion of major assignments is essential, as absences will not excuse or permit late submissions; it is the students' responsibility to catch up on missed work.

Work Policy

Maintain high learning standards and complete work diligently. Use appropriate time management to submit original work. Final drafts of essays must be typed with evidence of the writing process. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and will be penalized according to VHS policy. Failure to meet these standards may result in work being returned for revision, graded as is, or rejected.
