In our classroom, we are working on four things:
We will be safe and help others be safe as well.
We will be respectful and show everyone kindness and patience.
We will be ready, prepared for the day, our activities, and learning.
We will be ourselves and understand that everyone has that ability.
Homework Policy
In my class, we work hard and get our work done at school. I believe time at home is best spent with family, friends, and taking care of ourselves. I strive to not have homework for myself and I believe the same for my class. Each night we should be reading (together or alone), working on spelling sight words, spending time with others, doing things to be helpful at home, and getting a good night's sleep so we are ready for the next day at school.
If a student is absent from school, I will help catch them up at school. I don't send home work that has been missed or work that students will be missing if they know they will be gone. If you are absent from school, you are either sick and should focus on getting well or you are off on an adventure and spending time with family or friends- that is homework itself.
If it is for an extended period of time, we can come up with a plan to get work home or to help catch students up.
Disciplinary Policy
We follow the Vale Elementary School handbook for disciplinary actions. Remind, redirect, and reinforce. If there is an incident that needs to be addressed, I will be communicating through Remind first and if it includes a serious offense, I will be calling home.
I hold our 3rd graders to a high-level of expectations, which I know they can reach, but support from home is important. If you have questions, please reach out- if I don't know the answer, I will find out! Together, we make our 3rd graders the best they can be.
