About Me

About Me

Welcome! I'm Ms. Ruiz, and I have been teaching at WCW for more than 25 years. I graduated from Vacaville High School, earned my degree in English at Cal Poly SLO, and finished my teaching credential at Chapman University. After teaching for a few years, I returned to the classroom and earned my Master's Degree in Education Technology. Fun Fact - I was a math major to start, so I CAN help you with most math, you just have to ask =)

I love teaching, I love English, and I love WCW and our Wildcat Family. I believe deeply in education and helping students succeed and reach their potential. For years, I was an athlete (volleyball, basketball and softball) and for even longer, I was a coach (basketball, softball, tennis, track and triathlon). My role, as I see it, is a Classroom Coach, pushing, instructing and providing opportunities for each student to become stronger readers, writers and thinkers. Fun Fact - in 2014, I was selected as the SF Giants All Star teacher - won a free trip to the All Star Game in Minnesota (google it, you can see me on the field).

Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my nephews, watching baseball, and travelling every chance I get. I have always loved concerts, but in the last few years, I have fallen in love with musical theater and find myself listening to and planning trips to see new ones. I love camping, fishing, and hiking (most of the time). I am dog momma to rescue mix named Rocky, and I love reconnecting with former students. Fun Fact - The movie Money Ball - I was there for that game in person. If you know, you know.
