In a landscape rich with chlorophyll the totality is striking. Green leaves turn into murky soil, which turns into green leaves in a perpetual cycle. Nature and its overwhelming diversity provide our senses with complexity and offer the evidence that it is here, and not in the uniform, that we thrive.
Linn Byrkjeland and Fredrik Zanichelli's exhibition Eclipse reveals a longing for a greenery where birds soar in space and thickets, over groves and concrete. Torn cotton and sharp staples bring us into a dialog with the material and we are led on in visual stories where surrealism and the power of tales are tangible. Perhaps it is here, through the breach, that we manage to reach the other side of the celestial bodies in the sphere above us.

Byrkjeland's work explores different dimensions and worlds within worlds. A mythologically charged universe depicted through painting and drawing. It is full of creatures resembling birds,
lizards, snakes and other smaller Nordic animals that transport us to a lively thicket. The characters and scenarios she creates move between earthly elements and space, combining the rational and the absurd, unraveling our deeply rooted notions of reality and allowing us to become embraced by a parallel world.
FREDRIK ZANICHELLI

Zanichelli approaches the tension between architecture and nature, using Almhöjden in Stockholm's Skogskyrkogården as his starting point. The site was designed by Sigurd Lewerentz in 1935 based on the Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich's Hill and Ploughed Field near Dresden from 1825. Today, the surface of the painting is covered with cracks, and perhaps it has been for a long time. Perhaps Lewerentz saw how the painting, already over a hundred years old at the time, had begun to crack and that it was in danger of disappearing. Perhaps it was the cracks that lead the
motif to become a physical landscape. When Zanichelli approaches our built environment and its materialities, he does so with a poetic eye, where cracks are not only signs of decline but also of beauty. Something that can expose the forgotten, something that can force us to deconstruct and renegotiate what we take for granted. The difference between nature and culture is that culture has the ability to brake - and in this rupture new landscapes, new narratives are born. The rift becomes
the ground where what lies beyond reality grows.
