Questions to ask yourself when considering a website for research.
1. Who wrote it? Is this person an expert? (author) Look for information about the author or organization.
2. Who paid for it? (sponsor) Open a new tab, look for the company or person behind the information.
3. Is the information up to date? (date published or updated)
4. Is the information available anywhere else? Can it be verified? Can it be found in a book, newspaper, database, or magazine? Find at least two other sources to verify your information.
5. Is the website biased (slanted to one point of view/opinion)?
6. Does the information apply to my assignment? Don't waste time if the information is not what you need.
Don't forget to cite your sources.
