Spelling Out P is about the syntax interface and the nature of syntactic categories. In this book, I look at patterns of syncretism in the adpositional domain of Afrikaans to probe the fine-grained structure of that domain. One of the findings that I present in this book is how the adpositions of Afrikaans actually form subclasses that specialise in lexicalising different parts of a single, underlying structure.

The paper that I am most proud of is my 2021 Linguistic Variation paper about Afrikaans Circumpositions: (Mis-)matches at the syntax-interface. This publication grew out of a talk that I presented at a workshop about morphosyntactic variation in adpositions at Queen’s College in Cambridge.
