Field visits for students are critical as part of the development of geological education. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it became clear that it is necessary to use other resources, as in-person learning in field trip settings was not possible. Additionally, the great cost of field trips means that we are limited in the extent to which we can take students to the field. To this end, I am working to the creation of virtual field trips, in cooperation with groups from France, South Africa, and Norway.
The virtual field trips require digitization of outcrops by drone images, high resolution photographs, and LiDAR scans of outcrops.
