Topic Info: Capitol Hill is filled with many parks and green spaces where you can go out for a stroll or have a fun time with your family. They have parks perfect if you want a more nosey active area or are going for more calming scenery. If you are looking for an open space to play catch with your dog, have a picnic, fly a kit, or just play, Capitol Hill has the perfect open spaces where you go do all of these as well as more specific areas like basketball courts, skateboarding, volleyball nets, baseball, and soccer fields. These parks and open spaces allow you to be active with others or alone. There are also pathways where you can run or have a long walk. These open spaces also allow for pop-up markets where personal businesses can use this opportunity to sell their items.
Neighborhood Assessment Score I would Give: 4
Volunteer Park: This park is a more quiet and calming area. There is a big open space that you can use for a family or friend picnic or just lay and read a book- as well as a pathway that goes through the park which can be used to walk your dog or to free your mind. This park also happens to be next to the conservatory where you can book to see the beautiful plants. Being in front of the reservoir allows for a beautiful view where you can sit and take pictures. Being here, I observed it to be very calming and a perfect space to go to relax.
Cal Anderson Park: This park is filled with many things to do with your family, from a playground to a big open field. There is a pathway that goes through the park which allows for morning runs or just a stroll. There are also many activities to do at the park to keep active and play with others like the baseball/ soccer field, basketball court, and skateboarding area-as well as big open spaces where you can picnic or play volleyball. Being here, I observed a vibrant park where many people were doing different things and enjoying the playground and the green open space it provided.
