Where is Everyone Going?

 

With thousands of people flying in and out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport each day, we aim visualize just exactly where everyone is going.

 

We extracted data from the Port of Seattle, specifically focusing on daily departures from SeaTac Airport. Using Plotly, we transformed this data into a clear and straightforward graph. With the use of spatial representation in the width and opacity of the lines, the graph provides a concise representation of the airlines and destinations.

Analysis 

Alaska Airlines takes the lead

At Seatac Airport, Alaska Airlines takes the lead, boasting the most flights among all carriers. Delta follows closely in the second position. These two airline giants wield significant influence, as their respective hubs directly impact the diverse array of destinations and travel culture embraced by Seattlites.

Westcoast Identity

Seattle travelers love connecting to other cities in the western USA. Influenced by the tech hub of California and the outdoor charm of Denver, these cities share similarities with Seattle, making each journey an unforgettable experience.
