Projects

Throughout the class, I explored both publicly-sourced and observational data that draws personal connections to life in Seattle, WA. I worked with various data formats, including CSV, JSON, Pandas Data Frame, and HTML formats. Despite dealing with raw and unstructured data, we successfully converted and computed values without step-by-step instructions.

I developed four types of infographics, each representing a different topic, in Altair, Plotly, Observable, and on pen and paper with inspiration from the Dear Data Project. To find the best ways to visualize the data, I explored various chart libraries and platforms, ensuring the charts served their primary purpose of displaying data and enabling comparison. The charts became artistic spatial visualizations while still conveying stories through standardization, categorization, and data normalization.
